Chakras are your 7 centers of spiritual energy throughout your body and aren’t controlled by anyone else but you. It is the constant flow of energy that runs through your veins and how you harness it dictates the way you control or in some cases do not control your existence. Learning how to access and channel your chakra energies is extremely freeing and can promote better health and well being.
You can harness your chakra energy best through yoga, breathing techniques, and simple meditation. Chakras can also be accessed through crystal practice (which I will go into more depth within a separate blog as the concept is very large). When you find balance in your chakras you are able to achieve a more positive outlook on life and will feel prepared to handle life’s curveballs with more ease. However, as many people are unaware of their chakras they are closed off and are inaccessible which makes it harder to perform everyday tasks and can affect your ability to properly function both emotionally and physically.
When discovering your chakras you must closely examine any habits you have developed, are these positive, are they negative, and how are they affecting your sense of self? By examining chakras on an energy level we can find what our purpose is in life and how we can achieve that purpose. Ultimately through practice, you can balance your chakras and improve your life and your goals for yourself have a better chance of coming to flourish.
When your chakras are blocked or not properly balanced you will notice it physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Each of the 7 chakras affects you differently so it is important to understand each one.
The first chakra is the root chakra. This chakra is located at the end of your spine right at the bottom of your spinal bone. This at the title implies is your connection to the ground (the Earth), it holds all primal needs of existence such as the need for food, rest, sexual desires and the will to survive. This chakra regulates primal desires which makes it one of the more important chakras. Focusing on this chakra can lead to a deeper understanding of when the body is actually hungry versus when you are bored when your body is tired versus when your mind is tired and of course when your course of action can lead to deadly situations.
Tree pose helps to find balance in your root chakra as you must root down like a tree to find your balance.
The second chakra is the pelvic chakra; which as you guessed it located in the pelvis and near the groin area. In yoga, you might hear teachers say that you hold emotions in your hips, and that is because this chakra is where the energy of your emotions is stored. The pelvic chakra is at the center of your identity and is where your creative thoughts come from. By accessing this chakra you will find the energy for where you enjoy life. If you wish to access this chakra take your energy and place it inside your heart. Because this chakra is more dictated by emotions it can be best accessed when you listen to your heart and access what is healthy for you.
Frog pose opens the hips and helps to release any physical or emotional tension that is held within the sacral chakra.
The third chakra is the solar plexus. This chakra is mainly surrounded by your self-confidence and the way you manage your life. It is located around your stomach, your gut and it is best accessed when you look at the way you interact with others. Because your solar plexus literally turns food into energy for your body it is safe to assume that this chakra accesses how you can manipulate good or bad energy and transform it into something productive.
Boat pose ignites the fire within your core and encourages alignment within your solar plexus chakra.
The fourth chakra is the heart chakra. Being in the heart this chakra is all about love: the way we love, why we love, who we love. The location is above the heart in the very core of your chest. The best way to release this chakra is simply by loving and allowing others to love you in return. The heart chakra is the center chakra and connects the first three chakras to the final three chakras.
Wheel pose opens your chest and creates more space within your heart. This pose helps to keep your heart chakra open and receptive.
The fifth chakra is the throat chakra. As the heart chakra, this is located in the title, in the throat and controls the way we converse with others. When your throat chakra is out of balance this is because you maybe have not been truthful with others or yourself lately. This chakra is easily blocked when you hold your tongue and do not speak your mind. By speaking what you are feeling you allow your throat chakra to flow freely and this balances it.
Shoulderstands massage the throat chakra and encourage alignment of the throat chakra.
The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra. This chakra is located at the top of your nose in between your two eyeballs. It represents what we call intuition. Intuition refers to your ability or lack thereof to sense things and see the ending result based on a gut feeling. It allows you to access what is happening in your life and assume the possible outcome. If your third eye chakra is open you can access it in all aspects of your life: with yourself, with friends, with work, in relationships. If it is closed you are often blindsided when people do not live up to your expectations and you most likely have difficulties making decisions for yourself.
Childs Pose inspires peace and calmness in your third eye chakra.
The seventh and final chakra is the crown chakra. This chakra is located right at the tip of your forehead and represents as high as your energy can flow. Focused on the more spiritual element of things to access this chakra you have to be open-minded and willing to feel a little silly, at first. To access this chakra you must be able to look outside yourself and see the world and your place in it. This chakra requires a wisdom that is hard to access at first but over time can strengthen and become easier to control. I am a firm believer that we are masters of our own universe and we can speak things into existence if we try. By accessing this chakra you can find complete enlightenment.
Toe Stands require you to lift up through your spine through the crown of your head, this allows your energy to flow through your crown chakra.
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog, I will be posting more blogs on chakra and crystal healing as I move more into the craft and begin to understand it a little more.
